Walter Dan White

Funeral Services for Mr. Walter D. White will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Serenity Funeral Home 414 Telfair Street, Dublin. Rev. Winfred McCloud will officiate. Interment will follow at the Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery 494 Evergreen Road, Dublin.

Walter D White, 87, son of the late George White and Nellie Hampton White of Lynchburg VA, passed away on October 7, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Elaine, Melvin, Louis and Harry.

He was an active member of the Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church until his health began to fail.

After serving 20 years in the U S Air Force, he was honorably discharged. During his military service, he received a Bronze Star and fought in the Vietnam War.

After retiring from the Air Force, He worked at the Castle Point VA Hospital in New York. He later attended and graduated from Dutchess Community College and worked as a mental health counselor at the V A Medical Center in Montrose, New York. Walter enjoyed helping others and volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Warner Robins.

Walter is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 65 years, Mary Helen Wynn White; son, Michael J. White of Warner Robins; step-children, Carolyn Parker Haggins of Macon and Louis Parker of San Diego, CA, five grandchildren, including Stephanie Haggins Boone of Bonaire; Regina Townsend of Virginia, Carlos Parker, and Louis Parker III; one brother, James White of Montgomery AL; sisters-in-law, Louise Wynn Pointer of Nashville TN, and Claire (David) Boston of Dublin; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Serenity Funeral Home, Dublin has charge of arrangements.
