Barbara Jo
McQueen
Apr 3, 1954 — Aug 14, 2026
Dexter, Georgia
Barbara McQueen, born April 3, 1954, was a woman who lived her life with a strength and spirit that could not be easily overlooked.
In her younger years, Barbara was always on the go. She was full of fire, independent, strong-willed, and never afraid to speak her mind. She had a way about her that made it clear she would stand her ground and would never tolerate being treated poorly. Barbara knew who she was, and she wasn't afraid to let the world know it.
For 14 years, Barbara faced the challenges of life as a dialysis patient. Though it was a difficult journey, she continued to show the same strength and determination that had always been such a defining part of who she was.
Barbara will be remembered for her fierce spirit, her independence, and the strength she carried throughout her life. She was a woman who made an impression, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Her life was not defined by the challenges she faced, but by the fire, courage, and individuality with which she faced them
Barbara leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Douglas McQueen Jr., and her daughter, Melanie McQueen. She is also survived by her sister, Melody Greer (Richard Greer); and her brothers, Buddy McCarty (Ruby McCarty), Wright McCarty (Kay McCarty), and Johnny McCarty (Lisa McCarty); as well as several nieces and nephews who will continue to cherish her memory.
Her family will carry her memories with them and remember the strength, spirit, and unmistakable fire that made Barbara who she was.
