Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Dorothy "MaDot" Watkins will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 11:00AM. Location: Mt. Tilla Baptist Church Cemetery 2424 Highway 441 North, Irwinton, Georgia. Pastor Harold J. Banks will serve as eulogist.
Mrs. Dorothy Louise Stuckey Watkins, "Ma Dot", was born on September 11, 1930 to the late Otis and Mamie Lou Robinson Stuckey. She was a lifelong member of Mount Tilla Baptist Church where she joined at an early age. She was married to Grinner "Bear" Watkins on September 18, 1944 and for 45 years was a devoted wife and mother until his untimely passing. She was filled with so much love and cherished her family. She enjoyed dancing, caring for children and attending family gatherings until her dementia symptoms worsened impacting her day to day life.
Mrs. Watkins, "Ma Dot" passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Mamie Lou Stuckey; husband, Grinner Watkins; two sons, Carl McDaniel Watkins and Kershel Lee Watkins; brothers, L.C. Stuckey, R.S. Stuckey, Otis Stuckey, Jr., and Myra Danny Stuckey; sister, Iraline "Sallie" Barkley; and one grandson, Brian Keith Watkins.
She leaves behind a legacy of love to be remembered by her 11 children, Margaret (J.C.) Billue, Christine Holliman, Carolyn (Willie Lawson) Hall, all of Danville, GA, Willie L. (Detra) Watkins, of McIntyre, GA, Bobby G. (Anthony) White of Montrose, GA, Patricia A. (Ron) Pace of Chester, GA, Charles G. (Letha) Watkins of Danville, GA, Evelyn (Vincenza) Leto of Venice, Italy, Gregory Watkins of Hinesville, GA, Kenneth E. (Barbara) Watkins of Montrose, GA, and Debbie W. Crockett of Danville, GA, 2 grandsons she raised as her own, Michael L. Mims of Dublin, GA and Quaveris L. Mims of Dublin, GA, one sister, Mamie Rose Moore of Dublin, GA, one aunt Mary Lee Mitchell of Dexter, GA. 33 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, special caregivers, Brenda Reynolds and Lisa Taylor and a host of other family and friends.
Public Viewing will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from 9:00-7:00PM at Serenity Funeral Home 414 Telfair Street Dublin, Georgia.
