Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Douglas Veal, Sr. will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 3:00 PM. Location: The Moose Lodge 518 Academy Avenue Dublin, Georgia.

Doug was born December 16, 1942 in Milledgeville, Georgia, to Floyd Hughes Veal and Frances Moran Veal, who preceded him in death.

He was a graduate of Baldwin County High School and excelled as a student at Georgia Military College and Georgia Southern University where he earned industrial arts and accounting degrees.

He enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and friends, making others laugh, exploring new places, and being outdoors.  He will be fondly remembered as kind, generous, funny and loving.

Doug was a dedicated worker who served in many capacities, including owner of restaurants, Big D's Waffle Shop and Maryland Fried Chicken; HVAC contractor; past Exalted Ruler & State Vice President of the Elk's Lodge; Member of Moose Lodge, and past Vice Chairman of Board for Promise of Hope.  He found special meaning as a volunteer for Cairos Prison Ministry, where he found great peace in sharing God's grace. Of all the titles Doug held, he found the most joy in being called Daddy and Granddaddy.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Lisa (Maudiant) Montford; son, Doug (April) Veal, Jr.; sister, Sylvia Harrison; granddaughters, Maci (Brian) Raffield and Brittany (Wes Smith, Jr.) Montford; great grandchildren, Brici Raffield, A'Lane Raffield and Koa Raffield; special friends Barbara McCain and Will Oliver; Deborah Veal with whom he shared 48 years of marriage, and a host of other relatives and friends.  The family of Mr. Veal would like to thank Georgia Hospice Care for their care and compassion.

Visitation will be held at The Moose Lodge 518 Academy Avenue – Dublin, Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 2:00PM.
