Obituary

Jack Michael Tripp, known to many as simply “Mike” or “Tripp,” passed away on October 26, 2026, in Macon, Georgia. He was born on March 19, 1965, in Ashburn, Georgia, and graduated from Turner County High School in 1984.

Tripp was a man of many talents, a quick wit, and a personality that was impossible to forget. A true tinkerer and a self-proclaimed Jack-of-all-trades, he loved to build, take apart, and reconstruct just about anything. If he put his mind to something, he was determined to find a way to make it work. He especially enjoyed building and flying radio-controlled (RC) model airplanes, putting his hands-on skills and creativity to use. He also had a special love for Cocoa Beach, Florida, classic cars, and cranberry juice. His favorite color was turquoise.

Those who knew Tripp will remember his spitfire personality, his unmistakable sense of humor, and the smirk that so often followed one of his jokes. He was, without a doubt, a smart aleck who could bring laughter into a room and leave a lasting impression on those around him. Beneath that sharp wit was a man who showed kindness, a willingness to help others, and genuine love for those who became close to him. He brought warmth and light into the lives of the people who knew him best.

Tripp also believed in understanding others rather than passing judgment. He often reminded those around him that no one truly knows another person’s whole story or what they may be going through. His words served as a reminder to lead with compassion, offer grace, and remember that there is always more to a person than what meets the eye.

He was a proud father who, despite the distance that sometimes existed between them, was very proud of all his children. His life and relationships were not without their complexities, but his love and pride in his children remained a meaningful part of his story. Above all else, he was a father who was loved and will be deeply missed.

Tripp was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Rader; his father, Jack Tripp; his nephew, Alan Mauldin; and his great-grandson, Myles.

He is survived by his sister, Tammy Miller of San Diego, California; and his children, Summer Tripp-Bass (Wayne) of Fort Mill, South Carolina; Thomas “Bubba” Tripp of Rentz, Georgia; Amber Tripp-Cobb (Tanner) of Ladson, South Carolina; and Ginger Tripp of Tampa, Florida.

He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, Chelby, Rainey, Jade, Kaidence, Ella, Justin, Lucas, Amelia, Raymond, Althea, Laura (Dalton), Caleb, and River; and one great-grandchild, Luca. He is also survived by two nieces, one nephew, one great-nephew, and two great-nieces.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.

Tripp leaves behind memories of laughter, lessons in compassion, a knack for fixing just about anything, and a personality that will not soon be forgotten. He was one of a kind, and his presence will be missed by those whose lives he touched.

Love you like a big dog, old man. Till we meet again.
