Obituary

Lena Melrose "Ms. Rose" Williams, age 81, of East Dublin, passed away peacefully at home under the care of Serenity Hospice on Sunday, May 3, 2020 after an extended illness.

Ms. Williams was born in Laurens County on April 11, 1939, to the late Lawton and Lena Caraway Salter. She was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Salter.

She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She had the pleasure of being called "Mama" for the past 60 years. She was known as "MaMaw" for the past 36 years to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved spending time with and spoiling so much.She loved her Lord Jesus and exercised her faith as a member of Dublin Church of God.

Ms. Williams worked as the Secretary in the Maintenance Department of SP Newsprint. She retired from the mill after 23 years of employment.

Survivors include her daughter, Kneece Carter of East Dublin, GA; her grandchildren, Lana (Blair) Rogers of Dudley, GA, Gene (Brittany) Carter of East Dublin, GA; great-grandchildren, Kiersten and Gunner Rogers of Dudley, GA, Charlee Carter, Nevaeh Grizzard, Madison and Maleah Pullen, all of East Dublin, GA; sisters, Eloise (Morton) Gross of Tucker, GA, Annell (Bernard) Kennedy of Powder Springs, GA; a niece, Sharon (Mark) Martin of Villa Rica, GA; nephews, Darrell (Tracy) Kennedy of Hiram, GA and Philip (Janiece) Dukes of Birmingham, AL; many beloved great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Gene Carter, Gunner Rogers, Blair Rogers, Bernard Kennedy, Darrell Kennedy, Philip Dukes, Mark Martin, Ronnie Martin, and Joe Blackburn.

Due to the Covid-19 guidelines, there will be a graveside service at Pine Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Wednesday, May 6, at 11:00 AM. Please practice social distancing when attending the graveside service. Reverend Steve Hardeman and Elder Philip Dukes will officiate. The service will also be live streamed on Serenity Funeral Home Facebook page.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for each of your thoughts, prayers and acts of kindness during her sickness. The family also wishes to express their appreciation for the love and care that she received from the staff of Serenity Hospice.
