Obituary

Obed Eugene Pierce Jr. of Rentz passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, after an extended illness. He was born on December 14, 1955, to the parentage of the late Obed Pierce Sr. and Virginia Caudill Pierce.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Obed Sr. and Virginia Pierce; his daughter, Jessie Pierce; and his stepdaughter, Sharon Oliver. Though their loss weighed heavily on his heart, Gene carried their memories with him always.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Betty Page Pierce, who stood faithfully by his side through life's many seasons. He also leaves behind his daughter, Amanda Messenger; his cherished grandson, Noah Obed, who brought him immense pride and joy; and his sister, Debra Miles. Gene was a proud and caring stepfather to Doug (Kisha) White and Dennis (Priscilla) White. His legacy continues through a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly and treasured deeply.

Affectionately known as "Gene" to family and friends, he dedicated many years of hard work to JP Stevens and Forstmann, where he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of those he worked alongside. Outside of his work, he had a passion for gardening, taking pride in nurturing and growing things with his own hands. He also loved traveling to the beach, where he found peace in the sound of the waves and the beauty of the shoreline.

Above all, Gene was a devoted family man. He valued time spent with his loved ones, whether it was sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply enjoying each other's company. His steady presence, kind heart, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His life was a testament to dedication, love, and resilience, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
