Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Tony Newsome will be held Sunday, March 08, at 2:00PM at Serenity Funeral Home 414 Telfair Street. Rev. Scott White will officiate.
Tony was of Christian belief. He led a full life as a talented writer, artist, and musician. Tony was born and raised in Savannah GA by a large Christian family. He spent his youth singing in gospel quartets. He was trained as a master painter and wall paper installer by his father and older brother and later was the sole owner of Emerald City Paint and Paper and continued on the family tradition until his death. He established a large customer base due to his strong work etiquette and customer satisfaction. He also continued with his music career and started a band called Blue Collar Band and traveled with the band in the late 80's and 90's. Tony was the sole survivor of the group but continued singing, playing drums, guitar, and keyboard with his wife of 10 years and his loving family. Tony served a brief term as a member of the Marines and continued the Marine Way to honor, protect, serve and respect until his death. Tony had a love of riding motorcycles and spent his last days riding in charity events on his beloved Vulcan 1500 (Leonard) and was a proud member of Cruise in for a Cause motorcycle association Vidalia, Georgia.
He is survived by parents: Agnew and Ella Mae (Hatifield) Newsome, Rincon, Georgia, brothers Jeff Newsome (Donna) Savannah, Georgia, John Newsome (Marie) Pembroke Georgia, sister Christa Gay, Springfield, Georgia. He is also survived by his dedicated wife Julie White Newsome Rentz, Georgia; loving sons Anthony Ashley Newsome (Kacie Evans) Danville, Georgia, David Allen Newsome (Erin) Clayton, Georgia; grandchildren Alyssa Ann and Micheal Alan Newsome, Danville, Georgia. He also leaves behind nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Family Visitation will be held from 12-2 prior to the service and Cruise in for a Cause Motorcycle association will escort the family and friends on Tony's last ride to his resting place at his residence of Capps Browning Road,Rentz, Georgia where there will be last ride ceremony to scatter Tony's ashes. They will also retire his vest during the ceremony.
