Alfred Josey Obituary

Funeral Services for Mr. Alfred L. Josey will be held Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00AM. Location Reedy Springs Baptist Church 930 Rentz Dexter Road, Rentz, Georgia. Pastor Charlie Robinson will serve as eulogist.

Alfred Lena Josey, affectionally known as “Boo,” was born March 20, 1968, to the late Betty Jean Manson-Josey and Leroy Josey of Rentz, GA. He departed this life here on earth and was called home on May 14, 2021, in Elkhart, Indiana doing precisely what he loved and did best; driving his semi. Very rarely did Alfred miss a day of work. He was a dedicated and loyal man who took his career and love for driving seriously. He was a truck driver for over 30 years.

Alfred was small in stature, but he had a heart of a lion. When he believed in something, he committed to his belief. He was brutally honest, and if you knew him, you know his favorite question was, Can I say something? If you were not ready to hear the truth, then it was in your best interest to answer no. to know him was to love him. He had a deep passion for wrestling, cars, specifically mustangs and motorcycles. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren fishing. Alfred lived life his way and by his rules.

Alfred attended West Laurens High School, and following high school; he moved back to Milledgeville, GA.
Alfred is survived by his daughter Chiquoia Josey of Dublin, GA; sister Yolanda Guyton of Rentz, GA; brothers Terry Stephens; Milledgeville, GA; Royce (Kim) Josey; Portsmouth, NH. Three grandchildren: Isaiah Philyaw, Jadah Philyaw, and Elijah Philyaw. Aunts: Doris Jones-Reese, Gordon, GA, Sandy Manson, Killeen, TX, and Carolyn Mills, Irwinton, GA. Godchildren: Shanyia Taylor and Jordan Taylor, Milledgeville, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Leroy Josey, grandparents Ellis Manson Sr and Nellie Mae Jones, uncles Ulysses Jones and Henry Jones, sisters Faye Manson and Sharon Manson-Marbury.

Alfred will be deeply missed by his family, and friends. Alfred would have wanted everyone to live their lives as if he were still here; please tell your loved ones that you love them and how important they are to you. Lives can drastically change in a matter of seconds; leave fun and loving memories for those that love you.

Public viewing will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 at the funeral home from 9:00AM-8:00PM.
