Annie Walden Obituary

Memorial services for Mr. Annie Jean Walden will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Reedy Springs African Baptist Church, located at 930 Rentz/Dexter Highway, Rentz, Georgia 31075. Rev. Charlie Robinson will serve as eulogist.

Annie Jean Walden, age 75, passed peacefully on December 15, 2025. She was born on July 15, 1950, in Rentz, Georgia, and spent the majority of her life rooted in Dublin, Georgia, where her presence became a quiet but steady blessing to many.  Annie was a faithful and devoted member of Reedy Springs African Baptist Church, where she served with dedication and humility for many years. She held the role of church secretary and was an active member of the Pastor’s Aide Committee and the Kitchen Ministry. Through her service, Annie supported the work of the church with organization, hospitality, and a willing spirit, always ensuring that others were cared for behind the scenes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn Willis, Roscoe Walden, Sr., and Christine Walden; her children, LaWanda Thomas and Michael J. Thomas, Sr.; her siblings, Robert Walden, Roscoe Walden, Jr., Bud Cooper, and Sandra Walden; and her grandchildren, Angel Thomas and Amber Thomas.

Annie attended Oconee High School and later earned her G.E.D. from Heart of Georgia Technical College, a milestone that reflected her perseverance and determination. She dedicated many years of faithful service in the workforce, working for Victor Forstman for 28 years and later retiring from Walmart. A woman who loved making a house feel like home, Annie found joy in decorating, cooking desserts that brought people together, and spending cherished time with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Family was her anchor, her audience, and her greatest joy.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Rodderick Thomas (Debbie Williams); her daughter-in-law, Tammy Thomas; her grandchildren, De’Andre Wells, Michael J. Thomas, Jr., Darius Thomas, Anthony Thomas, Hammed Fullwood, Olivia Fullwood, and Tatyanna Thomas; and a host of great-grandchildren who were the light of her later years.

She is also survived by her siblings: Ronald (Priscilla) Walden, Barbara (Calvin) Payne, Ellen Walden, Lena Cooper, Sheila (Rex) Ellington, and Margarett Walden; along with a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She also leaves behind her long-time friend, Graddy Carr, whose companionship and loyalty were deeply treasured.
