Funeral Services for Mr. Bennie “Bebop” Wright will be held Monday, February 15, 2021 at 11:00AM at Dudley Memorial Cemetery. Pastor Korie Baker will officiate.
Bennie was born February 9, 1950 to the late James and Alvinnie Wright. He transitioned peacefully at Serenity Hospice on February 11, 2021.
He attended Oconee High School and was a member of the Job Corp. Known as the “Carpet Man,” Bebop never met a stranger. He was self-employed for most of his life and will always be considered one of the best to lay any type of flooring. He was a member of Second Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and brother Mary Jane (Sister) Coney, George (GW) Wright, Grady Johnson, Arthur (Shorty) Wright and James (Crabby) Wright.
Those left to celebrate his memories are his devoted wife of 48 years, Ethel; daughter, Waukita; sisters: Gladine (Daniel) White, Jo Myricks (Cookie) and Marsha James; brothers: Lester-LH (Evie Jean) Wright and Lee (Ada) Wright; mother-in-law: Ethel Spikes; aunts: Flossie Scott and Hazel Chilis; uncle: William Wright; sisters-in-law: Rose Mary (Jacob-JC) Snell, Marjorie (Bobby) Ashley, Jackie Wright, Debra Wright, Henrietta Wright-Williams, Vivian Spikes, brother-in-law; David St. George and a host of devoted, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing will be required.
Public Viewing will be held Sunday, February 14, at the funeral home from 1:00-6:00PM.
