Bishop Roger Warren Sapp, Sr. was born in Davidson County, Tennessee to the parentage of the late Ike Henry Sapp and Gwendolyn Curtis Hicks Bowen.
Bishop Sapp graduated from Madison High Seminary in 1962 and later attended Pentecostal Bible College Institute in Tupelo, MS. He then went on and attended Baptist Hospital Nursing School and graduated in 1964 with a nursing technician degree. He continued his education by attending Middle Georgia College, graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education.
Bishop Sapp was the President of Emmanuel County Teacher’s Association, Junior High 4-H sponsor in Adrian Elementary/Jr. High, and Teacher of the year twice in Adrian, GA. The best part of his profession was teaching children and preaching the gospel. He found joy in farming, reading, and canning. He was the pastor of The Church of Jesus Christ (independent) in Rentz. GA with his Senior Pastor, Anthony Connell. He taught in Emmanuel County, Johnson County and Dublin City School Systems.
He met and married his beloved wife and mother of his children Peggy Christine Gibby Sapp, September 4, 1965.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ike Henry Sapp and Gwendolyn Curtis Hicks Bowen; sister Barbara Winslett; in-laws: Paul Lindsey and Collins Cook.
He leaves to cherish his memories forever his siblings: Henry “Buddy” Sapp (Linda), Madolyn Lindsey, and Mable Cook; children: Angela Little, LaDonna Ranke (Derak), Warren Sapp (Tiffany), and Jonathan Sapp; grandchildren: Charity Kristen Hand, Arion Ranke, Harleigh Sapp, and Ember Sapp.
Public viewing and visitation will be Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 6:00PM-8:00PM. Celebration of Life Services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 10:00AM at the funeral home.
