Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Ethel Iola Spikes will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 12:00PM. Location: Theatre Dublin 314 Academy Avenue Dublin, Georgia. Pastor Korie Baker will serve as eulogist. Interment will follow at Northview Cemetery 100 North Franklin Street.
Mrs. Ethel Iola Kyler Spikes was born on April 26th in 1929 and the last of ten children to the parentage of the late Lewis Kyler of Louisville and Ada Avery Kyler of Wrens, Georgia. Mrs. Ethel made a peaceful transition to eternal life on May 29th, 2021.
In addition to her parents; Ethel Iola Kyler Spikes was preceded in death by a total of ten siblings including Mildred Kyler, Eula Allen, Linnie Walker, Minni Hodo, Fred Kyler, Sallie Mae Kyler, Lula Gibson, Lewis Kyler, Willi Greene Kyler and Christopher Kyler. Additionally, other deceased include her first born, Ruby Williams and second born, Willie Dee Spikes; and grandchildren, Robert Williams III , Corey Ellington, and son-in-law’s, Robert Williams, Jr. and Bennie Wright.
Though faithfully known as “Momma or Aunt Ethel” to everyone, Mrs. Spikes was a truly devoted mother to daughters, Ethel Wright, Rose Mary Snell (Jacob), Marjorie Ashley (Fred) and a very special daughter-in-love, Vivian Spikes.
Ethel Iola Kyler Spikes’ strong belief in God always created a family atmosphere whenever in her presence for any amount of time but it was her joy of cooking delicious full dinners on holidays for large family gatherings that brought her joy and happiness!
Ethel Iola Kyler Spikes also loved to go “cane fishing” with friends and family members to favorite and new fishing ponds throughout Middle Georgia.
Ethel Iola Kyler Spikes joined Second Baptist Church at a very young age where she also sang in the choir for many years. Ethel Iola Kyler Spikes enjoyed supporting young people by attending programs, concerts, plays, Christmas programs and Easter speeches as a dedicated member until her health declined in 2018.
However, the future of the lineage of Mrs. Ethel Iola Kyler Spikes is her grandchildren: Nichole Williams, Zacharian Ellington, Courtney Blocker, Waukita Wright, Krystal Mills, Kayute Spikes, Conswaila Spikes, Shanika Spikes, Keshawn Spikes, Willie Spikes Jr., Michelle Coney, and Shirley Smith; in addition to a total of 38 great grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Public Viewing will be held at the funeral home Friday, June 4, 2021 from 9:00AM-8:00PM
Due to COVID-19 family will have private visitation services at the residence of Mrs. Marjorie (Fred) Ashley.
