Jeffrey Cremer

Jeff Cremer, 67, of Dublin passed away at his home surrounded by loved one Saturday, May 25, after a brief battle with cancer. Jeff was born February 11, 1957, in St. Paul, Minnesota on his mother’s birthday. He moved with his family to Florida when he was 11, enjoying all the outdoor water activities the sunshine state had to offer. He graduated from Largo High School and attended the University of Florida.

Jeff moved to Dublin in 1983 to work for his uncle Donald Mertens where he became the first male waiter at the original Golden Corral Restaurant. He began a career as a wallpaper hanger shortly afterwards, wallpapering many of Dublin’s finest homes.

Jeff had a love and a talent for cooking. Together with his wife, Beth, he owned and operated The Peppercorn Restaurant in downtown Dublin for almost 20 years. He weas known for his delicious spicy dishes, Thursday Night Dinners, Gator’s Wrath hot sauce and being a rabid Florida Gator fan.

After multiple sclerosis robbed him of his ability to stand and cook, he pursued his other loved, music, and opened Jeff’s Musicology, a vintage vinyl record store that he ran until his death.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ted and Florence Mertens and his uncle Donald Mertens.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 38 years, Beth, his mother Doris Lorimer, daughter Emily Shuman (Rob), 3 amazing grandchildren, Winslow Grace, Birdie Rose and Robert Daniel Shuman, IV (Bobby) and cousins Tim and Tad Mertens.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Georgia Hospice, specifically caregivers Stephanie Wood and Carrie Clements for their kindness in those hard final days.

A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held Saturday, June 22 at 5:00PM at the home of Rob and Emily Shuman, 1163 Old Toomsboro Road - Dublin.
