John Brantley Obituary

Funeral Services for Mr. John Willie Brantley of East Dublin, Georgia will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 1:00PM. Location: Williams Chapel Missionary Baptist Church 1142 Soperton Avenue Highway 29 South East Dublin, Georgia 31027. Interment will follow at Northview Cemetery 1225 North Franklin Street - Dublin. Bishop Tommy L. Snell will serve as eulogist.

Mr. John Willie Brantley was born January 24, 1937 to the parentage of the late Charlie and Rosa Lee Brantley of Wrightsville Georgia. He was called home into the marvelous light Sunday, December 6, 2023 at his home in East Dublin with his wife of 66 years, Trudie M. Brantley by his side. He was united in Holy Matrimony Friday, September 13, 1957.

Mr. Brantley attended Johnson County Schools and was an Alumni of Dock Kemp High School. He later relocated to Miami, Florida where he worked for 42 years with Avis Rental Cars until he retired in 1998. Mr. Brantley made the decision to relocate back to Georgia, residing in East Dublin, Georgia. He returned to work for Dublin City Schools as a bus driver where he worked an additional seven years. Also, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Brantley joined First Baptist Church of Brownsville, in Miami, Florida and served there as a faithful choir member for the Number 2 Choir and the Male Chorus, under the leadership of the late Rev. John A. Sales. Upon relocating to East Dublin, Mr. Brantley and his wife became members of Williams Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. James F. Sherman. He served in the Male Chorus, and a faithful dedicates servant since 2003. His health started to decline in 2020.

Mr. Brantley was preceded in death by his parents, Rosa Lee Brantley and Charlie Brantley, siblings, George Brantley, Lewis Brantley, Charlie Brantley, James Brantley, Richard Brantley, Willie Mae Parker, Geneva Parker and Ethel M. Gatewood.

Mr. Brantley leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving devoted wife Trudie M. Brantley (the love of his life), children, Debra Jean Brantley-Lester (Carlton) of Miami, Florida, Anthony Brantley of Wrightsville, Georgia, and Bridgette La’Shawn Brantley-Reed (James) of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren: Gerius Brantley (Shakema) of Sanford, Florida, Shawnbreka Brantley-Rawlings (Brandon) of Wrightsville, Georgia, Kea-Juanna Brantley of Atlanta, Georgia, a devoted granddaughter, Jontavia St. Preux, Roshad and Thaddeus Lester of Miami, Florida; 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; two siblings: Annie Rose Brantley of North Carolina and Eddie Brantley of Miami. Florida; sisters-in-laws, Lula B. Brantley, Lula Mae Butler, Lillie Brantley Shirley Brantley and Eula Johnson, and one brother-in-law, Eddie Mac Thomas of Miami, Florida; he also leaves to cherish his memories a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, December 15, 2023 from 5:00-7:00PM.
