Funeral Services for Mr. Marcus T. Stanley will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Mt. Tilla Baptist Church 2424 US Highway 441 North. Rev. Rickey B. Stanley will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Marcus T. Stanley was born April 04, 1936, in Laurens County. He was the son of the late Booker T. Stanley, Sr, and the late Maggie Stanley of Dublin. He was the oldest of 9 children. Marcus was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin Stanley, Sr. and Marvin Stanley and sister Virginia Eagle, daughter Wilma Denson and son Ronnie Plummer.
He moved to Miami, Florida while in his early twenties, where he met and married Mary E. Smith November 13, 1956. He worked for the city of Miami as a laborer where he retired after many years of hard work and dedication. After retirement, he spent his time going on numerous fishing trips, hunting and visiting family in Georgia. He enjoyed, cooking his famous cornbread, collard greens and souse for family functions and just being there for whomever was in need.
On Saturday, August 10, 2019 at approximately 07:45 am, God and his infinite wisdom whispered in a gentle voice to Marcus, “Come unto Me and rest.” And so it was, God dispatched his angles to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary E. Stanley of Miami, Florida; nine children, Marcus E. Stanley, Linda “Nease” Stanley, Linda (David) Murray, Cedric (Arethia) Stanley, Constance (George) Dean, Hope (Roscoe) Threats, Michelle Stanley, Arthur Stanley and Antwan Stanley, all of Miami, Florida. He is also survived by two sisters, Camellia Horne and Betty (Robert Earl) Daniels of Dublin, Georgia; three brothers, Carnell (Alzarene) Stanley, Booker T. Stanley, Jr. and Anthony (Sheryl) Stanley of Montrose, Georgia; two sister-in-laws and one brother-in-law; 26 grandchildren and a host of great-grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends that loved him dearly.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at Serenity Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00PM. Family will receive friends at the home of his brother, Mr. Anthony (Sheryl) Stanley 1896 Old Macon Road, Montrose. Serenity Funeral Home, Dublin has charge of arrangements.
