Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Mary E. Butler will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11AM. Location: Serenity Funeral Home Chapel - 414 Telfair Street Dublin, Georgia 31021.

Mary Ella Butler was born October 2, 1955, to the late Dessie Wilcher and Mildred Troupe. She was the oldest of 11 children. Mary was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and educator whose life was marked by love, dedication and service to others.

From an early age, Mary showed extraordinary determination and a passion for learning. She graduated from Vidalia High School at the age of 17, and went on to earn both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education. As a lifelong educator, Mary dedicated her career to teaching and mentoring students, leaving a lasting impact through her wisdom, patience, and compassion.

Mary was married to Joseph Butler and was a devoted and loving mother to her three sons, Michael, Albert, and Joshua who were the pride and joy of her life.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dessie Wilcher, her mother, Mildred Troupe, brother, Tommy Q. Curry, and niece, Jasmine Curry.

Mary’s memories will forever be cherished by her sons: Michel Butler, Albert Butler, and Joshua Butler; step-father, Lewis Troupe; siblings: Magdalene Blair, William Paige, Frankie (Denise) Curry, Maggie (Darren) Glapser, Chandreal Spikes, Tammy Mitchell, Malcom (Monica) Troupe, Ronaldo (Sierra) Troupe, Fabian Troupe; and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

Mary will be remembered for the kind heart, her unwavering faith, her commitment to education, and the deep love she held for her family and all who knew her.
