At 101 years, Mother Inez Cooper transitioned from this earthly life, Friday, October 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Wilson, North Carolina on Monday, August 11, 1924, to Charlie, Sr. and Laura Younger.
At the age of 3, she moved to Dublin, Georgia to be raised by her grandmother, Mrs. Liza Southern.
Mother Cooper met and married the love of her life, Rev. Walter Cooper in December 1946. They would later relocate to Gary, Indiana, where they had four of their children: Walter, Paul, Rawlene, and Herman. After returning to Dublin, Benjamin and Katie were born.
She was educated in the Dublin School System. Mrs. Cooper worked at both Claxton and Laurens Memorial Hospitals and retired after a long 33 years of employment.
Mother Cooper was appointed Mother of Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church in 2010 by former pastor, Rev. Milton Hughes. Mother Cooper faithfully served on the Usher Ministry for over 50 years. She also served as a Missionary and a member of the Inspirational Choir.
Mrs. Cooper enjoyed going to gospel musicals, watching wrestling and the Young and the Restless.
Mother Cooper was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Rev. Walter T. Cooper, Sr.; her brother, Charlie Younger, Jr.; sister, Elizabeth Saturday; her oldest daughter, Rawlene Cooper; sons, Paul and Benjamin Cooper, and her daughter-in-law, Jeanette Cooper.
Mrs. Cooper leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Walter Cooper, Jr. and Herman Cooper and her daughter, Katie Wells; four grandchildren, Rachel (Kelvin) Bray of Milledgeville, GA, Rashanda Cooper of Atlanta, GA, Keith Cooper of Columbus, GA, and Henry Spikes of Fernandina Beach, FL; three great-grandchildren, Malia Bray of Milledgeville, GA, Madison Cooper, and Peyton Cooper of Columbus, GA.
Mother Cooper will always be remembered by her firm handshake that she’d give everyone she met. She was a loving and kind-hearted soul; one you’d always love and cherish.
