Nathaniel Bryan Fisher

Bryan, as his family chose to call him, was born at Kirkland Air Force Base, New Mexico. He had an older sister, Rozie (Rozella) when he was born.  When Bryan and Rozie were small, Shirley married Paul Nunez, the love of her life.  Bryan was soon joined by younger brother Nick.

Bryan enjoyed playing with his sister and brother and going to the beach.  Bryan had a beautiful, easy smile and beautiful big blue eyes.  The beach was one of his favorite places.  He loved sports of all kinds and enjoyed following his favorite teams.

When Brian was 23, he was motivated to join the U.S. Army and was soon deployed to support Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He was deployed to help drive Al Qaida out of Iraq.  He and his fellow soldiers were part of an elite, agile fighting force of Stryker fighting vehicles from the 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team from Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

While deployed, Bryan was indoctrinated into the “Order of the Golder Spur”, 4th Squadron, 14th U.S. Cavalry for “having served under the Cavalry Guidon in active combat on the very frontiers of the free world, and having demonstrated the fitness, cunning, dash and tenacity of a true Cavalry Trooper.”

Bryan was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, the Valorous Unit Award, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.  Bryan was wounded in war and was discharged in 2008.

Bryan, like many other war veterans, struggled through his injuries and the difficulties brought by war.  His life serves to remind us of the sacrifices that are made in the name of our country and democracy across the world.  We honor him.

Bryan is survived by his mother, Shirley Nunez and his stepfather Paul Nunez, his sister Rozie and her husband Todd, his brother Nick and his wife Jenna, his Uncle Guy and Aunt Debbie, Uncle Joe and Aunt Margaret, cousins, nieces, nephews, and biological father Steven A. Fisher.

Bryan’s ashes will be interred privately by the family. His mom notes, “His souls is no longer lost.  His family and friends miss him and love him.”
