Patricia Ann Benard, age 82, passed away early Saturday morning, September 25, at Dublinair Nursing Home. She had previously resided at Addington Place of Dublin. Mrs. Benard was born September 7, 1939 in Wilkinson County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Carl Eugene Collins, Sr. and Bertha Hall Collins. Pat was the youngest of nine children. She is preceded in death by her 5 brothers: Carl, Jr., Edward, William, Glynn, and Harold Collins; her sisters, Virginia Wilson and Carolyn Ford, and her son, Stephen Benard. Survivors include her husband, Augusto Benard; children, Melanie Sears and Terry Benard; grandchildren, Bryce Odum, Justin Sears, and Windy Gardiner; her sister, Maggie Dean; and numerous nieces and nephews. During her early adult life, Pat worked as a stewardess for Eastern Airlines in Atlanta. Later, she moved to California and worked for Eastern based out of Los Angeles. After her children were born, she worked as a legal secretary, pursued advanced education in psychology, and became an accomplished artist. She had a great love for the beauty found in nature and capturing it on canvas.
