Funeral Services for Mr. Rayfield Thompkins Sr. will be held Saturday, November 5 at 1:00 PM. Location:Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 414 Telfair Street Dublin. Rev. Jerowkee Powell will serve as eulogist. Interment will follow at Dudley Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Rayfield Thompkins Sr. was born February 3, 1950 as the first born and eldest son in Dublin, Georgia to the parentage of Late Mr. Layron Thompkins and Mrs. Hattie Mae Mitchell Thompkins. He was educated in the Laurens County School System.
He worked for Forty-plus years at Cochran Brothers in Dublin, Georgia. He also worked previously at Basset Furniture Company as a forklift operator. It has been said that no one could maneuver the forklift as masterful and skillfully as he did. Just like his brothers who preceded him, their passions were working on old cars and trucks.
He was preceded in Death by his wife, Willie Mae Thompkins; Father Layron Thompkins; Grandparents Deacon Henry Mitchell and Carrie Spivey Mitchell. Lanier and Eula Mae Thompkins; Brothers Albert Thompkins, James Thompkins, Clarence Henry Thompkins, and Layron Thompkins, Jr.; Aunt Viola Mitchell Coney; Uncles Joseph Bill (Roberta) Mitchell and Aaron Thompkins.
Mr. Thompkins entered into eternal rest on Sunday, October 30, 2022 and he leaves to cherish his memories his one and only son, Rayfield (Santwan) Thompkins, Jr.; Mother Hattie Mae Thompkins; His sisters Mary Thompkins, Margaret T.Wheeler and Janet Stephens of Dublin, Georgia; His grandchildren Keshwania Thompkins, Kentayn Boynton, De'asia Thompkins, Quintez Thompkins, Johnny Johnson III, Ramaiyah Thompkins, and Malik Thompkins; Great-Grandchildren Kyler Thompkins, Ke'Ori Ford, Cyun, Celest, and Jakira Boynton; Step children Blundale (Tommie) Slaughter, Sandra Edmond of Florida, Jackie Powell of Dublin, Letha (Charles) Watkins of Danville, Teretha (Travis) Wright, and Jerry Powell of Dublin; A special and devoted friend, Ms. Queen Evans; Other siblings Adell Gillis, Elijah Thompkins, Joseph Thompkins, Jackie Thompkins and Anita (Tim) Blue; two uncle Willie B.(Betty-Deceased) Mitchell of Dublin, Gerald Thompkins of New Jersey; six aunts Cora sims, Carrie Wiggins, Dublin, Mary Lou Mitchell. Bethenia Mitchell of Riviera Florida, Lamiere Brown, Christine Rawls of Pennsylvania; Sister-in-laws Vanesa Thompkins and Mary Helen Gaston; A host of nieces, nephews,cousins and friends.
After the Celebration of Life Services family will receive friends at Verline Copenny Building.
