Celebration of Life Services honoring Ruby Jean Sneed Anderson will be held on Satuday, August 30, 2025, at 11 AM. Public viewing and visitation will be held between the hours of 9 AM and 11 AM on August 30, 2025. Location: First Baptist Church - 210 Garmon St. Warner Robins, GA 31088.
Ruby Jean Sneed Anderson was the eldest of eight children born to the late Willie James and Betty Jean Rumph. She began her education at Lamson-Richardson Elementary School in Marshallville, Georgia. She was a member of the Hunt High School class of 1967 in Fort Valley, Georgia where she graduated with superlative honors. Her class was the last class at the end of segregation.
Ruby moved to Warner Robins, GA, where she joined First Baptist Church and joyfully shared her gift of song in the choir for more than 40 years. She was devoted to welcoming others through the New Members Orientation team, greeting many as they made First Baptist their church home. In addition, she served faithfully on the Hospitality Committee and cherished her time of fellowship with the Women’s Ministry.
Ruby dedicated 18 and a half years as an Administrative Assistant in the Developmental Studies Department at Fort Valley State University. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Business
Administration with a concentration in Marketing, which paved the way for her journey as an entrepreneur. Alongside her sister Josie, she founded Silhouette Designs, drawing on the
sewing skills their mother instilled in them at an early age. She expanded her creative gifts by founding Velvet Ribbon’s where she joyfully helped families celebrate life’s special occasions through elegant décor.
Ruby often said, “I do not want to teach,” but she would add that God has a sense of humor. After committing to retirement, the Lord led her into a new season with the Houston County Board of Education as a paraprofessional for special needs students. She often shared that this was the most rewarding job of all. The time spent with her students and the staff at Warner Robins High School was extremely precious.
She now joins in eternal rest with three brothers, Forrest Rumph, James Rumph, Henry “Billy” Rumph, and one sister, Carla Jones.
Left to remember her with love and affection are her three daughters, Regina Anderson (Anthony), Charlane Grant, and Alycia Owens (Shawn). Three grandsons that she absolutely adored, Xavier Cole, Emerson Owens, and Lennox Owens. Siblings: Robert Rumph, Lillian Ballance (Errol), Josie Bynum, Jeanette Crocker (Wayne), and Colbert Rumph. Nieces and nephews: Edward Bynum IV, Cherilyn Bynum, Adrian Bynum, Tarkess Collins, Kenneth Rumph, Betty Rumph, Crystal Ballance, Jennifer Atkins, Terry “Lenny” Willis, Cinetra “CeCe” Rumph, Judson Willis, Jasmine Rumph, Demaree’ Bynum. Ruby is also remembered by her former spouse and friend Lucius Grant, and longtime friends of the family Edward Bynum III, and Beverly Harper.
