Samantha Nann McIntyre Salter of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her parents’ home in Dublin, Georgia, on Saturday, February 11, 2023, with her parents John and Terry Hires at her side. She is now safe in the arms of Jesus, healed, whole, and beloved.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Samantha (“Sam” to those who loved her) and her family moved to the Atlanta area when she was young. She grew up in Gwinnett County, graduated from Brookwood High School in 1986, and graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in Consumer Economics, and a concentration in interior design.
She had a fantastic sense of personal style and a discerning eye, which served her well in her career as an interior design consultant in north Atlanta. She enjoyed sharing her expertise with family and friends, too. Later, Samantha worked for Adapt Healthcare as Account Executive, where she excelled in her field.
Samantha loved visiting her aunt and uncle in California, dancing, dining out, country music and 80's music (especially Loverboy and Journey), spending time with friends and her goddaughter Amberley, girls’ trips, cheering on her daughter at softball, and live music. Her favorite place was the beach, and she also loved hanging out at the pool with her daughter and friends. She enjoyed her church, His Hands in Woodstock, Georgia.
She loved people and connecting with them. She had a big heart and a sweet spirit, and she was a blessing to her large family and close friends. Her infectious laugh, upbeat outlook, tender heart, and pure radiance made an impact on anyone fortunate enough to have her as part of their life. Deeply loyal and tenacious, she held on to those she loved, particularly her daughter whom she adored, her family, and her friends who’d been by her side for decades.
Samantha preceded in death by her father, Ross McIntyre. She is survived by her husband, James Franklin Salter; her wonderful and loving daughter, Abigail Grace Salter; her stepson Nicholas Salter; her mother and dad, Terry and John Hires; her brother, Randy Hires and his wife; many aunts, uncles, cousins; several nieces, and nephews; and a large circle of friends.
