“Bigger than life” was more than just a phrase—it was the spirit of Timothy Douglas Jones, who passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 29, 2025. Timothy was born August 11, 1953, to the parentage of the late Douglas Guyton Jones and late Maggie Hazen Jones.

He was a man of many titles and a boundless heart. He found much interest in many jobs, but his pride and joy were his family and friends.

Born with a natural calling to serve others, Timothy wore many uniforms throughout his life—each one a testament to his courage, strength, and commitment to the community. Whether racing toward danger as a fireman, protecting others as a police officer, or guiding young minds as a physical education coach, he brought the same passion and fearlessness to every role.

Timothy was also a man of deep faith. Once upon a time he was a licensed minister who offered not only words of hope and comfort but lived them through his service and love for others. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and his face lit up every time they entered the room. To them, and to many, he was a hero—not just for what he did, but for how he lived.

Timothy was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Maggie Jones, his bonus mom, Nina Jones, uncle, Maurice “uncle Mo” Hazen, and a host of other family members.

He leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, laughter, and love. He was a towering presence in every way—full of energy, heart, and unforgettable stories. He is survived by his beloved wife, Tammy Jo Jones; his children: Maggie (Johnathan) Adams, Jamie (Freddie) Cernuda, Joey (Nicole) Jones, and Randy (Jessica) Jones; grandchildren: Phoenix, Jacob, Jett, Joslyn, Drew, Karlee, Addison, Carter, Jaylen, and Lexie; great-grandchildren: Neo, Nash, and Onyx; siblings: Sylvia Jones and Mike (Sharon) Jones; honorary family members: Calvin, Raymond, Cole, Kyle, and Roy.
