With profound sadness, we announce the passing of William Kenneth Harris, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all whose lives he touched. He left us peacefully at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, GA on March 10th 2023. He was in his 74th year. William (Bill) was born in Wiesbaden, Germany and is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beverly Berg Harris, daughter Michelle (John) Miller; grandsons John (Vanessa) and George (Kirstin) Miller; brother Wilding Harris, Sisters Marcie (Douglas) Hunt, Cynthia (Robert) Mello and Kathleen Owler; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and his beloved fur-babies Bailey, Cocoa, and Doodlebug. He was preceded in death by his parents: Wilding Harris and Marcella McBratney Harris; son Michael Kenneth Harris and brothers Patrick and Richard Harris.
Bill enlisted in the Army in 1967, served three tours in Vietnam as a decorated "rotor Head" (pilot) and transitioned to the Air Force. He attained the rank of Captain and proudly served as part of the Jolly Green H-3, DET 15, 41 RWRW, Patrick AFB, Florida, retiring in April 1987. He continued his passion for flight while flying for Air Care Team in Orlando. He completed a second career as a safety engineer for the aerospace industry in Brevard County Florida before his retirement. For the last many years he enjoyed his time with his wife, dogs, family, his love for cooking, hunting, and giving, "Great warm hugs."
He lived life in the moment and will be missed dearly by all that knew him. The family will host a celebration of his life this summer, in Orlando,FL.
