Willie James Guyton, Sr.

Funeral Services for Mr. Willie James Guyton, Sr. will be held Friday, November 13, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery 679 Shady Grove Church Road, Dublin. Dr. Carl A. Wardlaw will officiate.

Mr. Guyton transitioned from earth to glory on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Fairview Park Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. James Jackson Guyton and Mrs. Johnnie Dell Kinchen; his siblings, Leona Anita Maddox, Lois Guyton, and Eddie B. Jackson.

Mr. Guyton was born March 1, 1936 in Dublin, Georgia. He was a member of Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Willie was well known to the community, he was a man who loved gardening, the Lord, and his family. He was self-employed with Guyton Brothers Construction until his health failed.  He was known for his generosity, hard work, and his determination to overcome many obstacles.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife: Mrs. Catherine Jerry Joiner Guyton; his children, Willie (Tarralyn) Jones, Ovieda, Florida, Willie Guyton, Jr., Johnnie Dell O’Neal, both of Dublin, Tony (Faye) Guyton, Shelby, North Carolina, Theresa Stevens, Dublin, Irene (Willie C.) Strange, Toomsboro, Georgia and Wilbert Whirl, Monroe, Georgia, siblings, Lester Guyton, Jimmy Guyton, and Freddie Freeman, of Dublin, 17 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 6-7 at Serenity Funeral Home.

Serenity Funeral Home, Dublin has charge of arrangements.
